The Lake Family.

What is there to say about the Lake Family...?

Well, there is actually a lot to say about the family, though many would not consider a good portion of it flattering.

One of the original Settler families that helped found Mantle the Lakes are one of a fine fortune. Through the Line they have excelled at many of the things they have done, each generation moving into a new specialty and taking it by storm. The most current being one of the biggest designers and producers of Airships for Atlas, with rumors of work going into robotics. The only business that has continued through the ages is the Families Dust mine, a small one but a producer of very excellent grade materials, and remains one of their greatest prides and joys.

They remain one of the few "Noble" families in Atlas as during the Great War they backed the Population in helping aid them against the Oppressive rules that were being enacted upon them at the risk of their own well-being and lives, their staunch defense of the population against attacks by roving packs of Grimm creatures, and efforts in helping develop, fund, and construct the CCTS to help tie the countries together.

So how does a family with what seems to be a history of self sacrifice have a bad reputation of such that many of even the Nouveau riche seem to avoid them as much as they are able?

The fact they all seem insane. The Lake Family seems to not know the meaning of restraint when it comes to pursuing their drives, be it art, business, or anything that catches their fancy. No matter how bad of an idea it seems. Much like the families previous Patriarch, Chrom Aflar Lake, a man who's passion lied in the brewing of spirits, and even to this day bottles of his creations can sell on the market for prices that can stagger the mind. While this seems as if it is no strange thing, one must remember that Chrom believed the secret to brewing the perfect drink came from running the raw alcohol through filters filled with Dust, and even tried aging some of these productions in specially made crystal casks. The northern wing of the Lake estate has only recently been rebuilt.

And by many means he is considered one of the more stable of the family. They are obsessed with perfection, or at least the pursuit of it as once they achieve, they attempt to find some way to improve upon it, nor is failure shunned or looked down upon, simply seen as another means to improve upon their efforts. Provided there is anything left standing.

And the thing that seems to draw the most ire towards them with their reputation is that they just don't care. That is to say, one cannot insult them or their kin to their faces and just expect to walk away unscathed. But a disregard for their general reputation, and instead let their actions, past, present, and future speak for them.
